What is High-Torque Starter

High-torque starter is a subtype of the interia starters. Such starters are usually installed on the modified vehicles, which have got certain performance upgrades to the engines and transmission. When the engine compression rating is increased, the OEM starter may not cope with the spinning, not only because of higher compression, but also due to stiff valve springs.
If the camshaft is replaced with a performance-oriented one, there may be a cranking problem as well. High-torque starters feature higher rpm and are more resistant to heat, which means that they do not lose power because they do not get overheated in terms of gear reduction construction.
